ON DEC. 2011, FIVE PAINTINGS WERE MADE FOR REEBOK BRAZIL TO CELEBRATE FIVE FOOTBALL TITLES OF SPORT CLUB INTERNACIONAL FROM PORTO ALEGRE, BRAZIL.
Each painting portrays a historical moment that led to each one of the victories of this remarkable team. These were
published in a Brazilian newspaper (Zero Hora) and were sponsored by Reebok:
”On Friday (Dec. 30) a multi-page special insert was published in the newspaper Zero Hora, Porto Alegre,
with scenes of the club's centenary major victories, including the Libertadores and World Club Cup. The images
were produced by Mexican artist Betirri Bengtson. Done by hand, this work is already being considered a
collector's item.”

The Futbol Series

The ‘Futbol Series’ are contemporary surrealistic paintings that refer to ‘The Beautiful Game’: Football. It’s known worldwide for its passionate love to kick the ball and score a goal! On the field, each country is represented by its uniform and its colors. These works present a moment in a football battle over the ball, represented by the uniforms only. The absence of bodies brings the focus to the drama, the feeling, and the passion of the team itself without any particular player’s name in mind. It is all about the game, the team, your country’s colors and your flag. The very detailed painted uniforms in movement over a flat, solid, and bright background give a sense of suspension in time, a floating sensation like the state of mind in which a true fan or a player experiences every instant of the game.

2010 Bayou City Art Festival

From the 26 - 28 of March 2010, I had the opportunity to participate in one of the best ten art festivals around the U.S. I was one out of 300 artists elected for this festival. It was a great experience and a total success! The weather was beautiful and the three days were packed! It was my first time participating in one of these festivals and I decided to design my own booth. The booth was designed and built by me and my good friend Michael Ta, who I thank a lot! Here are some pictures of the event.

Betirri The Exhibition took place at Highland Village in Houston, TX on Saturday, May 9th '09.
It was a only one night event and we had about 150 guests. Thanks for everyone's support and for making the exhibition a success!
